Do you ever see those transformation outfits that girls create from their thrift store finds? They buy these pieces, cut and stitch, and make them look totally different! Well kudos to those thrifty divas, because I can’t sow, though I wish that I could (anyone want to volunteer to teach me?).
For those of you who are like me, and aren’t that crafty, I have a simple thrift tips for you! When thrifting, it helps to look at things differently. For example, the other day I saw this floral vest. But the thing is, it isn’t a floral vest, it’s a button up dress. Instead of wearing it as a dress, I decided to unbutton it and make it into a long vest. There was no cutting or stitching to transform this piece!

With summer just around the corner, I have been on the lookout for new clothes and accessories. With our move from Boston to California, I found that most of my clothing was for colder weather. And with all my new Cali friends telling me how hot The Valley can get, I have been wanting to revamp my wardrobe with some summer necessities. With that being said, I could not have been happier to from this pom pom fedora hat from ILYMIX! I love the detailing of the playful pom poms and the metallic tinsel on this hat. It makes this accessory unique, while still maintaining the ability to match with various outfits.
WHAT I WORE
Tonight my boyfriend and I had a date night at a local Mexican restaurant. I chose to stick to the color pallet of my new hat, and build an outfit from there. I decided to embrace the California look by wearing shorts, a tank, and a long thin sweater. If there’s one thing I have learned about living in The Valley, it’s that it is hot during the day and cold at night. I wore my new hat with shorts from Express, one of my favorite purses from The Paper Store, and a tank top and sweater from a thrift store. I don’t know about you, but I love mixing the old with the new!
ELEVATING MY LOOK
Since I was wearing high rise jean shorts, I used a hair elastic to tie a knot in my tank top. This simple styling turned my loose-fitting tank top into a crop top. As always, I love to add some bohemian flare to my outfit by accessorizing. I chose to wear gold jewelry since there is gold tinsel on my pom pom hat.

Until next time,
Happy first day of June, loves! I wanted to keep this post short and sweet, because my last one was all words and no pictures.
If you have been following along with Cute Teachings, than you may have noticed that I am a sucker for accessories. I have loved jewelry, handbags, shoes, and other accessories for as far back as I can remember. So when I got this beautiful maxi dress from Target, I had no idea how I wanted to style it for you. I saw myself wearing my brown gladiator sandals, but I also wanted to wear my black hat. And so I thought, why not take the same dress and style it two different ways for my readers. That way, you can see just how important accessories can be when it comes to completing or transforming an outfit.
Which look do you like best?
