Setting Your Body & Mind Back On Track

Happy Thursday, everyone! We are just one day away from a long weekend, and I could not be more excited to use that time to set my body back on track! Between moving, traveling, and getting settled into a new place, it has been difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My boyfriend, Alejandro, and I have not been consistent with eating healthy or exercising regularly. Typically, we both love to eat correctly and workout. It’s amazing when you have a routine, but it can be so hard to get back into it, if you stop.

I wanted to share with you a tool that I am using to help myself get back into the swing of things: my health journal. I started this health journal a couple days ago for a few reasons:

1. To motivate myself into living a healthier lifestyle.

2. To keep track of my progress.

3. To analyze what I am doing correctly, and what I need to work on.

Below is the layout for my health journal:

Today I am grateful for… (I write three things that I am grateful today. I think this is a great idea because it helps me slow down and appreciate the small things in life.)

My goal to live life fit today is…(I write one small goal that I can focus on for the day. I try to make it achievable, like “Drink more water”.)

One thing that I appreciate about my strong bod today is…(I find this to be the hardest part of my journaling. I can be really hard on my body and do not always view it in the best light. But that is why I think this is an important part of my journal. We show never shy away from what is difficult.)

Rate Your Day- Move (I write down any exercises I have done that day. I also write down my daily activity level from my Polar watch.) Nourish (I write down everything that I have eaten, and then rate my energy level from 0-10.) Reflect (I reflect on how I felt that day. Then I give myself a smiley, straight face, or frown face for my general mood for the day.)

Day (To show how many days you have been working on this.)

Quote of the Day (I find a quote from any source that motivates me. It can be about fitness or life in general.)

How does this inspire me? (I write how the above quote inspires me.)

Cups of… Water, Tea, Coffee, and (sometimes) Alcohol (I tally up how many cups of each of these beverages I’ve had.)

Random Thoughts (I write down any random thoughts that I may have that aren’t included in any of the above sections.)

I am trying very hard to get back into a healthy lifestyle. My health journal really helps me achieve my goals and stay connected to my body and mind. If you need motivation I hope that this inspires you to start your own health journal. You can use some, all, or none of these categories. It’s all about what works for you.

Until next time, thank you so much for reading!

delia organics

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a relaxing weekend. If you follow me on Snapchat (username: jennd3389) or on Instagram than you may have noticed that I have been working on my health lately. By health, I mean both mentally and physically. I have made a few adjustments to my daily routine by increasing my work out and cutting back on alcohol, sugar, salt, and take out food. As well as reading self-help books and attending motivational seminars run by successful women. These new habits have helped me create a more positive and inspiring outlook on life!

One of my new favorite daily routines is treating my skin. You may have read in my previous post, New Nightly Routine, how I absolutely love delia organics and their Restore Treatment. Well, I was fortunate enough to try a few more magical products from this wonderful company! delia organics blessed my skin and sent me the following products (descriptions are from delia organics’ website):

This plant-powered mask deeply detoxifies skin and fights free radical damage with delia organics’ antioxidant blend of organic Cranberry, Blueberry and Green Tea.

organic skin care

I have been using these products for the past week, and have already seen AMAZING results! In all honesty, when I started the week by taking my before pictures, I didn’t know what to expect. I am fortunate to say that I typically have okay skin. Meaning, I usually only have a few random (and annoying) breakouts during the month. But throughout my time using these products, I felt my skin become healthier. By the end of the week, when I took my after pictures, I was beyond happy with the results! My skin has fewer blemishes and feels fresh and healthy. I would recommend these products with 100% confidence that you will love your results as well!skin care face masqueIf you are just as impressed with my results as I am, give delia organics a try! My week of using these products looked like this:

  • I applied the Dose of C Serum every morning after cleansing. You do not rinse this product off after applying.
  • I cleansed and applied the Berry Buffering Masque in the evening. I did this three times during the week, and left the masque on for thirty minutes. To remove the masque, you simply rub it off over the sink (without water). The mask will come off like eraser pieces. After using the masque I applied the Restore Treatment. You do not rinse the Restore Treatment off after applying.
  • I cleansed and applied the Clear Sailing Enzyme Masque in the evening. I did this twice during the week, and left the masque on for fifteen minutes. To remove the masque, you use water and circular motions to slough off dead skin and exfoliate. After using the masque I applied the Restore Treatment.

Splurge Melted Buttah Repair Balm

Friday is finally here, and what could be better than that? A long weekend, that’s what! If that doesn’t put a smile on your face, I don’t know what would. Not to mention the weather has been great! I’m looking to redo a few rooms at home this weekend, and spend a lot of my time outside with the pup! But with all this beautiful weather we’re having, it’s important to take care of your body and, more specifically, your skin. Up until today, Cute Teachings has been a blog solely based on fashion. I love sharing outfits with you, in the hopes that they will inspire you.  However, today marks a new day and new adventures! I will be branching out, and discussing health and wellness and what I perceive to be beneficial for my mind, body, and soul.

The first product that I wanted to share with you is a repair balm that is from a company based right here in Boston. The company is called Splurge Skincare, and they’re great! About two weeks ago I attended an event that had Splurge Skincare’s Melted Buttah Repair Balm inside the swag bag I received. I had never heard of this company, and after doing some research, I was intrigued and ready to try the product!

First, let me tell you why I like the company, Splurge. As many may know, or could probably assume, I created the name Cute Teachings because I have a B.Sc in Elementary Education. The “teachings” part of my blog name came from my work with children. Now, what instantly turned me on to Splurge Skincare was the fact that it’s founders and creators are two friends that are teachers. I love supporting local companies, and the fact that they are fellow educators is an added bonus! Not only are they teachers, they are self-proclaimed “product-junkies”. And after receiving a homemade body scrub as a Christmas present, the idea of Splurge Skincare took form, and it was established in 2010. What I love is that these two friends followed the old saying “practice what you preach”. As teachers, we work to inspire individuals to follow their dreams. These two took their passions and interests and created a brand.

What is also so wonderful about Splurge Skincare, is that they create high quality products that are free from harmful toxins and chemicals that could damage both our skin and our health. They spent countless hours conducting research and testing to make sure that their natural products would work. Their philosophy (as stated on their “About” page) was simple: “People shouldn’t wait for a special occasion to treat themselves well, it should be something they do everyday. Our hope was that our products helped people to do just that”.

Now, why I love the product! I have never been one for lip products. I usually leave the house with minimal makeup-if any. Even putting chap stick makes me feel a little out of my comfort zone. However, this repair balm is so light weight I barely even noticed it was on! What is even more amazing, is that it is not just for your lips. This all purpose repair balm can be applied to any area that needs a little extra lovin’. Whether it be your cuticles, a dry spot, or rash, Melted Buttah repair balm has you covered! I cannot wait to try their other products!

Thank you so much for reading!
