Thirty Days of Thrifting

Happy Monday, loves!

On my previous post, 10 Tips For Thrift Store Shopping, I shared some of my tips and tricks for thrift store shopping with you. With that in mind, I have been doing a little thinking lately. Environmental issues have always been important to me, and lately my interest in sustainable fashion has flared up (again)! I have had so much fun checking out my local thrift stores and consignment shops, and I have been thinking of a way that I can show my readers just how great thrift store outfits can be. So, I decided to create a thirty day challenge for myself! I will be posting thrift store find (both fashion pieces and home decor items) on my Instagram, Cute Teachings, for thirty days. Each outfit will have at least one thrift store find styled into it. I hope that this provides you with thrift store chic inspiration, and motivates you to shop sustainable! I created the hashtag #thritydaysofthrifting so please follow along and feel free to add to hashtag!

Thank you for reading, and stay tuned!

Product Review: REKS Optics

REKS Optics

Good morning, loves! It’s almost the weekend and the weather is beginning to heat up, both on the west coast and the east coast. With that in mind, I wanted to share with you my absolute favorite brand of sunglasses: REKS Optics.

REKS Optics has everything that you could want in a pair of sunglasses! They are completely customizable, so you can design a pair that fits your unique style. How cool is that?! Here are some of your options…

Frame: SeafarerRoundAviatorWrap AroundSport, and Sling-Blade. I prefer the round frames, but it all depends on the shape of your face and your style.

Lenses: Solux (lightweight and shatter resistant), Lumolux (polarized to resist glare), and Chromalux  (darker in sun, lighter in shade). I love the lumolux lenses because they are polarized.

Colors for Shades and Lenses: There are multiple colors available. I prefer to match my frames with my lenses, but you can mix and match depending on the style.

And best of all, REKS Optics are UNBREAKABLE!! Yes, I just typed that. These sunglasses bend, but don’t break! Which is absolutely amazing. These durable, yet stylish, sunglasses are perfect for when I teach, travel, or just for everyday use. I can say this with confidence because when Alejandro and I moved to California, I simply threw these sunnies in the front pocket of my suitcase…AND THEY WERE FINE! And we all know how the airport can treat our luggage.

Finally, REKS Optics are also affordable, with prices ranging from $30-$60! What more could you ask for?

What to Wear: Day Date at the Beach

Hey, loves! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and that your week is off to a great start. I was super excited for this past weekend because my boyfriend and I planned a day trip to Santa Barbara! We woke up early, cooked breakfast together, and then packed a picnic for us and our fur baby.

Since the weather was only in the seventies yesterday, I wanted to share with you my beach OOTD! For summer the typical beach look is a cute bathing suit and a fun cover up. But what do you wear when you’re just there to walk along the beach, browse the shops, and munch on delicious seafood? I chose to wear a crop top, comfortable shorts, and a lite weight sweater for our day date. For these California “June gloom” days, it’s important to layer. State Street (one of the main shopping areas in Santa Barbara) can get pretty warm because you’re walking in the sun. But drive ten minutes to the coast and it will get windy real fast. And of course, you can never go wrong with a pair of white Keds. Trust me, if you’re heading to a beach town like Santa Barbara, you do not want to wear sandals. There are so many cute shops, and delicious places to eat, you’ll lose track of time while walking around (like I did), and your feet will be sore from all the exploring. Remember, the goal is to be cute but comfortable.

How do you like to dress for a day date at the beach?
