Happy Monday, loves!
On my previous post, 10 Tips For Thrift Store Shopping, I shared some of my tips and tricks for thrift store shopping with you. With that in mind, I have been doing a little thinking lately. Environmental issues have always been important to me, and lately my interest in sustainable fashion has flared up (again)! I have had so much fun checking out my local thrift stores and consignment shops, and I have been thinking of a way that I can show my readers just how great thrift store outfits can be. So, I decided to create a thirty day challenge for myself! I will be posting thrift store find (both fashion pieces and home decor items) on my Instagram, Cute Teachings, for thirty days. Each outfit will have at least one thrift store find styled into it. I hope that this provides you with thrift store chic inspiration, and motivates you to shop sustainable! I created the hashtag #thritydaysofthrifting so please follow along and feel free to add to hashtag!

It can be argued that there is almost nothing better than a cute shift dress, during the summer time. A shift dress, for those who do not know, traditionally hangs loose from the shoulders with very little, or no, definition in the waist. This style of dress is perfect for those hot and muggy summer days. And trust me, I heard this summer in New England is going to be just that…hot and muggy. Thankfully though, these dresses are so casual and lightweight, they wont stick to you and make you feel claustrophobic and gross from the heat. This season, you will want to have a few of these hanging in your closet.
As I mentioned in my earlier post, “FOSTERIE: Clutch & Bracelet“, and Instagram, I went on a weekend getaway to Vermont this past weekend. Comfort and ease is exactly what I had in mind when I brought my favorite nautical navy blue shift dress from The Paper Store with me. The print is adorable, and I especially love how much room I have in this dress! It was perfect for lounging around on my last day, before beginning my three hour car ride back to Boston.

This necklace may also be found in various The Paper Store locations.

As any fellow busy bee knows, comfort is key. You can leave the house looking amazing, but if you’re not feeling great, it’s going to show within the first hour of your day. The better you feel, the better you look! I keep this in mind every morning as I get dressed. Monday through Wednesday, I work ten hour days-being comfortable is a necessity. The very first thing that I do in the morning is check the weather. You want to be prepared for anything that the day might bring. And as we know in New England, the weather is constantly changing. I find layering to be key in any outfit!
Another thing that I like to keep in mind is whether or not the outfit is appropriate. I nanny three boys, so I need to make sure that I not only look pulled together, but that I have nothing “hanging out”. Prior to nannying, I worked in at a daycare and let me tell you, I picked up some fashion pet peeves. When working with children, or really with any job, you need to make sure that you’re following dress code (whether established or not) and that you always cover up: belly, bum, and chest. Keeping this in mind, I found the cutest pair of overalls! I can play with the kids, and not have to worry about jeans that may fall down. Plus, this look is totally adorable! Whether I’m at the zoo, park, or museum I know that I will be ready for anything.
